Forging is a manufacturing process that involves shaping metal by applying compressive forces to it. It is used to create parts and components that are stronger and more durable than those made using other methods like casting.
The forging process typically involves heating the metal to a high temperature, which makes it more malleable and easier to shape. The metal is then placed on a die, which is a specially shaped tool that provides the desired shape and size for the final product. The die is typically made of steel or another hard material that can withstand the high pressures and temperatures involved in the forging process.
Once the metal is in place on the die, it is subjected to compressive forces from a hammer, press, or other forging equipment. The metal is compressed and deformed, filling the cavities in the die and taking on its shape. The process may be repeated multiple times, with the metal being reheated between each forging to maintain its malleability.
